Tech’s New Stack… “Coffee”
I just taught a coffee shop regular in 3 hours what it took me months to learn.
One day we struck up a conversation and I learned that he got ChatGPT to spit out an online form built on a Python library that looked amazing.
There was one problem:
😵💫 ChatGPT was hallucinating and telling him information that lacked subtly and prevented him from hosting his application.
With software, one single miscommunication can be the difference between hours and weeks of work.
So we sat down with coffee and I taught him the beautiful fundamentals of being a developer!
Here’s what he learned:
- All the text editor basics
- Python’s fundamentals (syntax, conditional logic, operators, pip/environments, etc)
- How to host his application publicly using official documentation
Learning these things on my own took months of reading tutorials, pouring over docs, failing to configure servers, and many head-in-hand moments.
To think that all it took for him was a conversation with someone willing to coach.
Turns out, the best tech stack for learning is a clear goal, a good mentor, and a cup of coffee. ☕️😊
